Training times and sessions
Our Pilates-based technique requires that you train at least once a week on a regular basis. So we allocate clients regular sessions that come as close to their requirements as possible. Once these session times have been established, they remain available to you until you advise us that you no longer wish to keep them.
Group classes: To maintain our high teaching standards, we limit the number of matwork group class participants to six. Depending on your condition of health, you may require a number of private sessions before we can integrate you into a class.
Missed appointments and client absences
Because of the demand for regular training times and the studio’s busy timetable, clients will be charged for all missed appointments or absences. Unfortunately, we cannot make any exceptions. For longer periods of absences, for holidays, studies and other commitments, for example, we require a full fee retainer if you wish to keep your allocated time slot. Alternatively, you can forfeit your slot by not paying a retainer. We then re-allocate your slot, and make every effort to find an alternative slot that suits you on your return.
Group classes are designed around the participants. Numbers are limited and spaces are reserved. Any period of absence of any kind will be charged for, or the reserved space forfeited.
These terms and conditions are in line with other services such as academic and dancing schools, personal training, and music and language lessons.
Please note that a 24-hour cancellation policy applies to classes or private sessions if you do not have a set session time. This means that if you do not cancel the session you book on a weekly basis 24 hours in advance, you will be charged for it.
Studio closures: The studio runs through school holidays, and is generally closed on public holidays. Note, however, that we have made a commitment to continuing education. So in the case of instructor illness, continuing education or personal commitments, we make every effort to schedule replacement sessions. Clients will be notified well in advance of any foreseen instructor absences. And there will, of course, be no charge for appointments that instructors cancel.
In fairness to all our clients, we keep strictly to session times. We cannot extend your session if you are late. We ask that you arrive in time to change and begin your own gentle warm-up before your session. If you attend a class, please be sure to arrive seven to 10 minutes before the class commences.
Termination of training
Except in exceptional circumstances, as agreed by both instructor and client, we require 30 days’ notice of termination of training.
Attire and studio hygiene
Due to our hands-on method, please wear comfortable clothing that allows us to see your body clearly. The cleanliness of our studio and equipment is our priority. We would be grateful if you let us know if, at any time, we do not shape up in this regard. As a courtesy to other clients and to our instructors, we ask that you make personal hygiene, particularly clean feet, a similar priority. Thank you for your understanding in this sensitive matter.
Please leave all mobile phones on Silent, in the waiting room. Except in the case of emergency, mobile phones are not allowed in the studio. Should you need, under these exceptional circumstances, to bring you mobile into the studio, it must be on Silent and answered outside the studio.
Please advise your instructor before commencing your class or session if, for any reason, your ability to exercise has changed. Our technique and exercises are very safe, but, as with all forms of exercise, it is prudent to consult with your doctor before exercising. Our classes and sessions are not a substitute for medical counselling or treatment. So if you have any doubts about your health or exercise abilities, refer to your medical practitioner. If we work with you to rehabilitate injury or illness, we require written consent to perform Pilates from your medical practitioner.
